'Earthquake' guitars to be sold
The instruments, seven in total, were made by the musician Bruce Pickering to commemorate the loss of life in the natural disaster.
It is also remembering the fall of iconic and historic buildings in the city, including the Great Hall at the Christchurch Arts Centre, the Gunyah County Lodge and the Southern Blues Bar.
"This project means a lot to us," Pickering was quoted by Voxy.co.nz as saying.
"Christchurch is my home town and my family and I have experienced our own personal loss, including the loss of our home. But what I love about this project is that it brings hope and positivity to our city."
One of the guitars, known as the Epicentre, which features wood from all of the fallen buildings, has already exceeded $10,000 (approximately £6,757) on the auction website with 16 bids at the time of writing.
