Eddie Van Halen 'changed what was possible with an electric guitar'
Eddie Van Halen should be viewed as one of the most important electric guitar players of all time, it has been suggested.
According to an article by Gibson Lifestyle blog contributor Sean Patrick Dooley, Van Halen helped to revolutionise not just how the instrument is played, but rock 'n' roll as a whole through his memorable work on 1978 track Eruption.
The commentator explained the explosive nature of the guitar instrumental the star played on Eruption led to other musicians realising what it was possible to achieve when making songs. He added that it is impossible to overestimate the lasting impact made by the song, especially in terms of the electric guitar masterclass given by Van Halen on it.
Van Halen and his music certainly appears to remain popular among music lovers of all generations - the star currently has more than 100,000 people signed up to his Facebook fan page.
