Eddie Vedder to release Ukulele Songs
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has picked up a ukulele to record a new solo album which is to be released at the end of May.
The star is bringing out Ukulele Songs, which is a combination of covers and original songs performed by Vedder on the musical instrument.
Fans can already get hold of the first single from the LP, Longing to Belong, as it was released earlier this week.
A live recording of two Vedder gigs from 2008 in Washington DC is also coming out at the same time as Ukulele Songs.
Water on the Road, which has been co-directed by Brendan Canty of Fugazi, features the musician playing tracks from the Pearl Jam back catalogue, as well as from his acclaimed solo album Into the Wild, which was the soundtrack to the film of the same name.
Pearl Jam are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and are to release newly-restored and expanded versions of their Vitalogy and Vs. albums later this month to help mark the occasion.
Each of the records is going to be made available in a number of special edition packages, while vinyl versions will come out in April.
