Elbow return to debut sound
Elbow see their new album as a return to their roots.
The Mercury Prize winning group will release the record 'Build a Rocket Boys' later this year but rather than try to move away from their original sound, the band have decided to embrace it.
Lead singer Guy Garvey told Xfm: "If anything it sounds a lot like our first album there's perhaps some more big positive moments than there are on asleep in the back, but other than that vibe-wise it's a lot groovier than anything we've done in the last couple of years."
Guy also admitted the group - which includes guitarist Mark Potter, keyboardist Craig Potter, bassist Pete Turner and drummer Richard Jupp - have written their new album to retain some of the same commercial appeal as their last album 'The Seldom Seen Kid'.
He added: "To do something self-indulgent and inaccessible would have been a bit churlish. We write music for people to hear and we really enjoy these big show that were doing now - we can't wait to get out on the road in March, we couldn't help but bear that in mind with certain songs on the album."
'Build a Rocket Boys' will be released on March 7.Posted on 17 Jan 2011 06:30 to category : Music News
