Electric guitar legends among Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame nominees
Electric guitar legends such as Tom Waits and Donovan are among the nominees vying to be inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.
The US museum announced a 15-strong list of acts hoping to be added to the Ohio attraction's list of stars yesterday (September 28th 2010).
Electric guitar group Bon Jovi, rappers the Beastie Boys and shock-rocker Alice Cooper are among the nominees, along with singers Donna Summer, Neil Diamond and Chuck Willis.
Joe Tex, Dr John, J Geils Band, LL Cool J, Chic, Darlene Love and Laura Nyro complete the list, with the successful candidates due to be announced in the next few weeks.
Famous names already showcased at the museum include Otis Blackwell, the Sex Pistols, The Hollies, The Stooges, Isaac Hayes and the Ramones.
Performers cannot be inducted until 25 years after the release of their first record, while a panel of 500 "rock experts" decide on the successful nominees through a ballot process.
