Elvis tops acoustic guitars list
The King came out on top after Music Radar published its rundown of the top 20 exponents of the acoustic guitar, after consulting fans and experts about their favourites.
Though Elvis' prowess on the music instruments was perhaps not as great as the others on the list, the King outranked the others based on his contribution to popular music, which still stands unrivalled by any other solo artist.
"Has an acoustic guitar ever looked as dangerous, or as downright desirable, as when the King first claimed his crown in the mid '50s? The template for every acoustic-slinging hip-swinging frontman ever since, Elvis was the first and, arguably, the best," the website said.
Lennon and Gallagher - both equally adept at using an electric guitar - came out second and third respectively, with fourth place taken by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who famously also played the drums in Nirvana and, more recently Queens of the Stone Age.
The top five was completed by The Man in Black himself, Johnny Cash, whose later work included acoustic versions of several American rock classics.
