Ex-Korn guitarist urges band to announce permanent replacement
Brian 'Head' Welch, the former electric guitar player in metallers Korn, has asked the band to announce a permanent successor following his departure in 2005.
Welch was a founding member of the group, playing in the band for 12 years, but has closed the door on a possible return, reports NME.
Writing on social networking site Twitter, Welch urged Korn to appoint current touring guitarist Wes Geer, who used to be in (hed) PE, as an official member.
"Please let Wes Geer join Korn and take my old place on stage so people will quit telling me to go back to Korn," he wrote.
Since leaving the band, Welch has released two autobiographies and one solo album.
He is currently working on a follow-up to that record.
Earlier this month, the star announced he was running a competition to give an autographed Ibanez RG-7321 seven string electric guitar away to one of his fans.
The winner of the instrument is set to be announced later on this week after those interested in the prize were required to sign up to his email list on his personal website by February 4th.
