Facebook music service stumbled upon

A software developer has allegedly come across details that reveal Facebook is planning on launching a music service.

A new music service from the social networking giant Facebook has allegedly been stumbled upon inadvertently.

Jeff Rose, a software developer and self-titled "open-source" hacker, announced on his own personal blog that he came across the code called Facebook Vibes, which connects with a page that supposedly will one day allow users to download music.

Writing on his blog, Mr Rose said: "I searched around to see what this is all about, and it seems that this is an unannounced feature that has yet to be released. The vibes app connects with a music download dialog in the page though, so I'm guessing that with this release we are seeing the seeds for Facebook’s upcoming music offering."

Much like Google, Facebook is continually looking to evolve its brand.

If what Rose has come across is the first signs of Facebook's foray into online music software production, it will be joining an already crowded market, with Spotify, Amazon, iTunes already offering their own unique music streaming services.

It's nothing new as rumours have always surrounded the social media giant's intentions towards cracking the music market.

Back in 2008 the New York Post revealed that Facebook was looking to develop something similar to MySpace.
