Fender Jaguar 'a favourite of Kurt Cobain'
Jordan Waller, a columnist for the Sabotage Times, explained the musical instrument was a favourite of Kurt Cobain, who recorded many of his contributions to Nirvana's seminal Nevermind album on it.
The columnist noted the Fender Jaguar had an important role to play in the 1990s grunge scene, while other acts such as My Bloody Valentine and Chapterhouse also made use of the guitar.
Mr Waller said the broad range of sounds that can be produced make it popular with many bands who play live on a regular basis.
"The body of the guitar incorporates a floating bridge pick-up making it actually a far more technically sufficient bit of kit than its better marketed brother and sister, the Stratocaster and Telecaster," he claimed.
"Sonic Youth use a Jaguar to create some of their more unique chiming style sounds."
Last week, Vaccines drummer Pete Robertson explained to the Islington Tribune he had been inspired to become a musician by the songs and ethos of Nirvana, stating that many people of his generation were affected in the same way.
