Fender Jazzmasters give NOFX "classic sound"
Most of the songs on NOFX's latest album Coaster were recorded using a Fender Jazzmaster, Fat Mike has revealed.
However, Fat Mike claimed it has been a while since the band has used such "old-school" methods.
"We haven't recorded like this in a long time - it's a real classic sound," he remarked. "It has the LA punk sound. We nailed the Germs guitar tone."
He suggested that some of the inspiration for going down this route came from renowned punk producer Bill Stevenson, who has played with Black Flag and The Descendents during his career.
Fat Mike said that Stevenson has a wonderful ability to help bands achieve the sound they are after.
