Fender Recruit Bono and The Edge to Board of Directors
This addition is more than just adding them to the artist roster, as the two will join the Fender Board of Directors, in an effort to allow one of the biggest guitar brands in the world to engage more with musicians and music fans, seemingly able to affect real change in the company.
"By adding The Edge and Bono to the board of Fender, we are taking an important step toward building a company that is able to meet its potential as a business and a brand," said Bill McGlashan, Fender co-chairman. "The music world is changing and Fender is undergoing a transformation into a better music company."
But it's not just their success that has made them an attractive addition to the board. Bono's keen business sense and creativity has been a draw, and Mark Fukunaga, another co-chairman has said "The Edge's track record as a guitarist and an innovator of unique sounds through his use of technology makes him an ideal partner."
