Fender Stratocaster used by Billy Corgan during marathon gig
Billy Corgan employed his Fender Stratocaster guitar to delight fans attending a recent Smashing Pumpkins gig.
The band played for 135 minutes in a marathon set in New York at an event designed to mark the 25th anniversary of Spin Magazine.
According to the publication's William Goldman, Smashing Pumpkins were on top form as they played a range of new songs and old classics.
"Today, Cherub Rock and Hummer … saw the Chicago native manhandle the neck of his Fender Strat pausing to motion at the sold-out crowd before diving into another solo," the reviewer explained.
He added that the gig included a moving sing-along as Smashing Pumpkins played Tonight, Tonight to send the audience home happy.
Earlier this month, Corgan used a somewhat more unlikely musical instrument during a performance in Los Angeles.
The musician pulled out a ukulele for a solo rendition of Love is the Sweetest Thing at the end of the show, reported Spinner.
