The results of Guitar and Bass Magazine's 2009 Awards were recently announced.

Fender won both the best electric guitar under £500, and the best electric guitar priced between £500 and £1000.

For the best guitars costing under £500, the Squier Classic Vibe 50s Stratocaster and Telecasterwere the winners.

The reviewer commented that "Fender was going for a 'classic vibe' at a neat price and they've nailed it".

Firstly looking at the Classic Vibe 50s Stratocaster, the reviewer wrote how it "played like a dream and the vibrato stayed in tune".

The Stratocaster is available in finishes including Olympic White, and Lake Placid Blue.

As for the Classic Vibe 50s Telecaster, the reviewer summarised by commenting that "it's simply the best bang-for-your-buck Telecaster out there".

Moving onto the best guitar in the £500 - £1000 price range, the winning guitar was the Fender Road Worn '60s Stratocaster.

On top of praising Fender for making a great looking guitar that could convincingly pass for a vintage Stratocaster, Guitar and Bass Magazine was also impressed by the tone of the guitar.

"Turn up the volume and you can hear that it's a Strat – and a good one, too. With an airy, breathy, open tone that comes over a lot like the aged instrument it pretends to be, the result is a fabulous-sounding guitar".
