Fleet Foxes drummer quits
J Tillman has decided to go back to his roots and give his solo career the full attention it deserves.
Tillman, who has adopted the moniker Father John Misty, continued to record as a solo artist throughout his four-year stint with the indie band.
The drummer is also a very capable guitarist and known for possessing a voice that lends him credibility as a musician in his own right.
"Farewell Fleet Fans and Friends," he wrote on his blog. "Back into the gaping maw of obscurity I go. Tokyo is my last show with the Foxes. Sorry if I was distant and obtuse if we ever met. Have fun."
It is clear that it is an artistic decision as opposed to some kind of fallout as he tweeted that Fleet Foxes were "the best and last band that would ever have me".
His last solo studio album, Singing Ax, was released in 2011.
