Florence Welch's mother cried with worry at Ceremonials
The ' No Light, No Light' singer put many of her darker feelings into her second album, which led her mother to worry for her welfare.
Florence explained: ''My mum said that she listened to the album in the car and cried because she was worried about me. That made me feel terrible. My sister, Grace, wrote out all the lyrics and said, 'Your lyrics make me feel very sad.' And they're right, at the core it is a very sad record. But I am not an integrally sad person.''
The Florence + the Machine singer has admitted to going through a hard time coping with the breakdown of her long term relationship with Stuart Hammond, and admits she finds it difficult to communicate with people off stage.
She said: ''There's no future and no past onstage. It is a way of being out of control which is in your control. So the two things that I am fighting against in the songs, the chaos and the control are united.
''Then it's all over and it all goes dumdumdum and you're back to being you. I can communicate things through the songs that I can't otherwise. There's no big crescendo to a conversation.''
'Ceremonials' is out now.
