Florence and the Machine top UK album chart
Florence and the Machine have finally reached the top of the UK album chart with debut album Lungs more than six months after it was first released.
The album came out in July 2009, but was kept off the top spot by a Michael Jackson compilation.
Lungs has spent 28 consecutive weeks in the top 40 and managed to beat off competition from Vampire Weekend's latest release to give Florence and the Machine the number one album in the UK, reports NME.
Second place in the chart went to Paolo Nutini with Sunny Side Up, while Vampire Weekend's Contra went in at number three.
Last year, Rob Ackroyd, guitarist for Florence and the Machine, said that he used a new Boss DD-7 digital delay pedal on several of the album's songs.
"On songs like My Boy Builds Coffins and Howl, I use it in unison with my OC-3 to create an ethereal bed of sound that Flo's vocals lie on top of," he explained.Posted on 18 Jan 2010 16:13 to category : Band / Celebrity News
