Florence and the Machine's double Q win
Florence and the Machine was the big winner at this year's Q Awards, taking home two prizes today (25.10.10).
Florence Welch was named Best Female and also got the gong for Best Track for her hit single 'You've Got The Love' - a cover version of a track by The Source featuring Candi Staton.
Other winners at the music magazine's prestigious annual awards ceremony - which was held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel - were Plan B who received the Breakthrough Artist accolade, Mark Ronson, who was given the Innovation In Sound prize and Paolo Nutini, who was named Best Male.
Speaking after collecting his award, Ronson admitted he was thrilled people think he is innovative, because he is honest about his musical peers.
He told BANG Showbiz: "I wear my influences on my sleeve so it's good to know that I've combined them or hidden them in a way that people think I'm innovating. Record producing is my day job, everything else, like solo records, is really icing on the cake, so to be recognised is great."
Take That made their first public appearance as a five-piece since Robbie Williams rejoined the band this year and were presented with the Hall of Fame accolade.
Kasabian won the biggest award of the afternoon, Best Act In The World Today, while Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry was named Q Icon.
After collecting their awards many of the artists had some interesting plans for their gongs.
Suede singer Brett Anderson - whose band got the Q Inspiration prize - said: "We might cut it into sections and have a bit each or we might let Simon (drummer Simon Gilbert) have it.
"Simon's the most responsible one out of all of us, any of the rest of us would just lose it and we know that Simon will actually polish it."
Madness frontman Suggs claimed he and the rest of the band would hold a fight to determine who got to keep their Q Idol trophy.
He joked: "We've been idols for over 30 years but this is pretty much the only award we've ever received. But the problem is they only give you one award. The Q Awards have spent a lot of money on this today, on the food and the drink, and then we get just one award between the seven of us.
"I'm going to get in touch with the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) and we're gonna do a slam down to see who keeps it. Or we could have a cage fight!"
