Free music lessons for everyone
Kind-hearted Liz Hindley, a local musician, is launching a new project aimed at people of all ages who are keen on exploring music, reported Runcorn and Widnes World.
She is creating a community band and has sent out the message for aspiring musicians to join up.
"People have been asking: ‘what is the catch?' but there isn't any," the 52-year-old told the news provider.
"Widnes and Runcorn used to have their own bands. We want to bring back some of this lost heritage."
She explained that with many schools in the area having their music budgets cut, this was one way of enabling children to play an instrument for free.
"And those still young at heart to take up a hobby," she added.
In Los Angeles, USA, Sessions LA, an after-school activity, is helping young people stay out of trouble by introducing them to urban music making through software and DJ equipment.
