Fresh Radio 2 series revealed
According to the BBC, the programme is set to chronicle Britain in modern times using music.
Stuart Maconie is set to host the programme and although it isn't due to hit the airwaves until 2012, Radio 2 wants people to help it out before then.
A website dedicated to the programme (bbc.co.uk/peoplessongs) is going to reveal ten of the 50 tracks involved every month, with people able to send in things such as pictures and personal tales.
Ten tracks have already been made public, including Two Tribes by Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Rehab by Amy Winehouse and She Loves You by The Beatles.
"In the company of the Great British public, I aim to tell the story of the last seven decades via the records that sound-tracked this dramatic period; a period of conflict, social change, parties, prosperity, plenty, poverty, peace and war," Maconie said.
