Fresh tunes coming, says Arctic Monkeys drummer
Matt Helders said of the video clip for the I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor pop stars' tune R U Mine: "More people have watched that than any other video on this album. So obviously it worked."
Explaining the inspiration behind the clip, he said: "The idea was sometimes when we're messing around driving we film ourselves singing stupid songs on the radio, people do that I think, and in a way we wanted to do a video we could put out straight away without any promotion which is what we did with 'Brick By Brick'."
Of forthcoming musical treats, Helders said: "We haven't really started writing officially, a record or anything, but there's a few things we're playing around with."
This was happening when the band were sound-checking at gigs, he said. The drummer was being interviewed by Paste Magazine.
The Monkeys – whose previous hits include Florescent Adolescent and Teddy Picker – are gigging in America with another band, The Black Keys.
Every one of their albums has reached number one in the UK.
