Friedlander explains pizzicato cello album
Famous jazz cellist Erik Friedlander has explained why he decided to mostly do away with the bow for his latest album, The Broken Arm.
He went on to use the instrument in a number of his recordings and continued to blaze a trail for the use of plucking in jazz music.
On his website, Friedlander claims that he came up with own pizzicato sound by watching double bass players perform.
"Most of my pizzicato approach is taken from watching jazz bass players work," he remarked.
"I work to get a full, healthy sound and to use an aggressive rhythmic approach."
Pizzicato lessons featuring Friedlander are available on YouTube.Posted on 31 Mar 2009 14:47 to category : Band / Celebrity News
