Impressively, Friendly Fires successful, self-titled debut album was largely self-produced.

Lead singer Ed MacFarlane has recently been talking with music technology distributor Source about recording this album and the equipment that the band used.

Within the equipment list were Universal Audio’s 6176 vintage channel strip and the UAD-2 Solo Laptop DSP plug-in system.

The microphone of choice for the band was the Rode NT-1A condenser microphone.

Universal Audio was one of the main manufacturers of hardware and software used within the band’s studio.

The high quality of sound was produced using UA products – a pleasant surprise for the band.

As Ed commented to Source, "I've never thought compression plug-ins

would actually do anything, but I've been absolutely proven wrong".

Friendly Fires will be celebrating the success of their album with a forthcoming tour around the US, UK and Canada throughout November and December this year.
