Friendly Fires reveal studio secrets
Impressively, Friendly Fires successful, self-titled debut album was largely self-produced.
Lead singer Ed MacFarlane has recently been talking with music technology distributor Source about recording this album and the equipment that the band used.
The microphone of choice for the band was the Rode NT-1A condenser microphone.
Universal Audio was one of the main manufacturers of hardware and software used within the bands studio.
The high quality of sound was produced using UA products a pleasant surprise for the band.
As Ed commented to Source, "I've never thought compression plug-ins
would actually do anything, but I've been absolutely proven wrong".
