Friendly Fires to release second album
Friendly Fires are set to strap on their electric guitars as they prepare to release their second album.
The follow-up to their self-titled debut will be called Pala and Ed McFarlane - the singer with the group - observed there is a reason behind the choice.
"It sounds a lot more pretentious than it actually is. It's named after an island in an Aldous Huxley novel. On the island there are these parrots that are trained to whisper uplifting messages to the people," he told 6 Music.
He added the sound of the record will show it is about enjoying life in the "here and now".
It will have a hard act to follow, as their first album was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, but eventually lost out to Speech Debelle's effort Speech Therapy.
The band are probably best known for their hit Jump In The Pool, which is currently used by the BBC when introducing its Final Score show, while they are about to embark on a short tour of Australia.
After listening to the record, individuals may be tempted to buy an electric guitar now and start learning the instrument.Posted on 27 Jan 2011 16:03 to category : Band / Celebrity News
