Gaga and Perry songs blacklisted by China
Two of the biggest music stars in the world are to be banned in China by the country's ministry of culture.
The songs of wild fashionista Lady Gaga and vibrant Katy Perry have been deemed by the ministry of culture as being of "poor taste and vulgar content".
Gaga, who is currently enjoying her moment in the limelight, has had six of her tracks make the "top 100" blacklist, which is probably not her idea of success.
They are not the only popstars to feel the brunt of China's tough censorship laws.
Even tracks from the boyband Backstreet Boys and superstar Britney Spears have made it onto a blacklist of 100 songs that websites operating in China must remove by September 15th.
Websites that refuse to bow to the request will be prosecuted.
Much has been said about the odd way in which the 100 songs have been selected.
After all, the Backstreet Boys' hit I Want It That Way is now 12-years-old, whereas Britney Spears's Burning Up isn't that bad at all.
