Gary Powell praises 'trusty' Yamaha Oak Custom drum kit
Gary Powell, the drummer best known for his work with The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things, has spoken about recording with his new band The Invasion Of.
Writing on the Yamaha blog, Powell explained that the group's live recording sessions took place in London in the spring of this year.
"Having been a member of two bands of a similar ilk, it was important for me to try something completely different in style and approach, but maintain the same heartfelt dynamic and emotional content," the drummer explained.
He stated that he used his "trusty" Yamaha Oak Custom kit for the recording of the EP and was able to get a good sound, partly thanks to the great ambient feel of the studio they were working in.
Powell is set to be behind the drum kit with The Libertines again in the near future, as the band are reuniting to play the Reading and Leeds festivals next month.Posted on 22 Jul 2010 16:11 to category : Instruments News
