Gear4music Staff Member Wins NAtional Roland V-Drums Contest
Laurie Caudwell, one of Gear4music.com's Customer Services team, has just won the UK National Final of the Roland V-Drum Championships at the Jam House in Birmingham. He beat 8 of the UK's best drummers in the National Final, winning a place at the World Championship in Anaheim, California, all expenses paid. Laurie also walked away with an Octapad SPD-30 Sampler, and stands a chance to win a Roland TD-20KX V-Drums Kit worth over £6,000 when he visits California in 2012. The first stage of the competition required Laurie to record a five minute entry video of his drumming, and upload it to YouTube - Laurie's stunning performance can be seen below. Proving one of the most popular videos in a public vote on Roland UK's Facebook Page, Laurie became one of the final 8, out of over 100 entries. It was his performance on a TD-20KX V-Drums Kit in Birmingham on Tuesday 22nd November however, that impressed the judging panel and secured his place in the International Final. Laurie's performance at the World Championship is set to take place during the January 2012 NAMM show in Anaheim, California. Held every year at the Disney Convention Centre, the NAMM Show heralds the release of the most exciting music gear for the coming year, making it the perfect location for one of the most thrilling drumming competitions worldwide. The 2012 show will feature over 1,400 exhibitors from around the world, including the likes of Roland, Yamaha, Korg and Fender. Gear4music.com will be providing live coverage from the NAMM 2012 show in California, as well as footage of Laurie in action, on the Gear4music News Channel. Everyone at Gear4music.com is very proud to be working alongside a national drumming champion, and wishes Laurie the very best in the World Championship final in January.
