Geezer Butler wants Black Sabbath to perform one final tour.

The bass player said he's keen for the original line up of the band - which includes singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward - to do a last set of farewell shows, and revealed they have been in discussions about the possibility.

Speaking at the Classic Rock Awards in London, he told BANG Showbiz: "Who knows about Sabbath? I'd love to do one last tour and play the places we never played as an original band, there's loads of places that we never got to do as the original group, so it'd be nice to do one farewell tour and then call it quits.

"We're all talking, we talk anyway. Sort of but it's early days, if it all comes together in the right way, we'll do it."

Ozzy originally left the band in 1977 and pursued a solo career, but returned to play with them between 1997 and 2006.

The rest of the band continued to play with vocalist Ronnie James Dio under the title Heaven and Hell, although Ronnie's untimely passing earlier this year now leaves things open for a potential reunion.

Before any final tour, Geezer is working on his own solo material with his G/Z/R band and meeting with Tony to advise him on his next record.

Geezer added: "I don't get to Tony much as I live in Los Angeles and he still lives in England, so it's only at things like this and when we're working together that we get to see each other.

"I'm going around to his house next week to hear what his new stuff sounds like and give him my critical opinion.

"I've been writing my own Geezer album to keep my hands flexible, it's sounding good, ultra heavy, very dark, and we'll see what happens with it."
