George Michael in hospital with pneumonia
George Michael, who rose to fame as one half of the pop duo Wham! has been battling with chest infection for a number of weeks before he was diagnosed with pneumonia.
The 48-year-old singer-songwriter, who has produced classic hits like Careless Whisper, Faith, One More Try and Fastlove, has cancelled his show in the city as well as other upcoming gigs in France and Wales.
According to sources, the megastar hopes to be fit and alert by the end of the month to play a gig in Liverpool.
"George has had to cancel some shows because he has pneumonia," a spokesperson said.
"It started with a chest infection and developed into pneumonia, therefore he had to cancel some shows. When you have pneumonia it takes a while to get better."
The spokesperson also took the time to rubbish rumours that Michael was suffering from heart problems.
