Gibson hails unusual band names
The company said Jethro Tull, who were named after the inventor of the agricultural seed drill, have a particularly unique nomenclature.
Duran Duran, who enjoyed massive success in the 1980s with hits such as A View to a Kill and Rio, were also singled out for attention.
The pop group acquired the name from Dr Durand-Durand, a character in the 1968 movie Barbarella, which starred Jane Fonda.
Gibson cited these two acts as examples of how a band name does not necessarily dictate the course of their career.
Indeed, the guitar manufacturer said many "awkwardly named groups have gone on to achieve spectacular success".
Alice Cooper were hailed as another act who have secured success with a distinctive moniker, along with Iron Maiden, The Replacements, Alien Ant Farm and Steely Dan.
