Gorillaz are 'Doncamatic'
Gorillaz will release a new track, 'Doncamatic (All Played Out)', next month.
The Damon Albarn headed group - represented by a group of cartoons - have been busy touring their album 'Plastic Beach', but over the last month found the time to record a new track which pays tribute to an early drum machine, the Donca Matic; one of the first ever produced, by the Korg company.
The track features newcomer Daley on vocals and is based around an electro funk riff.
Damon has recently explained how to capture any creative moments on the road, the band - which includes in its present touring form ex-Clash members Mick Jones and Paul Simonon and soul music legend Bobby Womack - have taken a mobile studio with them on their tour bus.
He said: "The idea is whoever wants to can go in and make music, and the results could be included on the next album.
"All I want to do is just be creative, to keep playing around with the boundaries of what is acceptable."
Damon also revealed the band has "about two album's worth" of material left over from the sessions for their third LP 'Plastic Beach', and singer and producer Labrinth recently confirmed he is planning to collaborate with the group.
He said: "I'm going to collaborate with Gorillaz very soon, I did a remix for them already, but they want to work on a new track, so that will be a lot of fun."
'Doncamatic (All Played Out)' will be released on November 22, and Gorillaz's 'Escape From Plastic Beach' world tour heads to North America in October, Europe in November and Asia and Australia in December.Posted on 6 Oct 2010 16:30 to category : Music News
