Gorillaz future in question
Gorillaz may come to an end after their present tour.
The cartoon band - which is masterminded by singer and musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett - are presently completing their largest and most adventurous world tour to date, but Damon said he's thought about bringing the project the a close.
He said: ''It's been an unqualified success - bizarrely. But we always think that when we get to a point where we've achieved something that it's time to stop, don't we?"
Jamie added: ''This would be a wonderful point to leave Gorillaz; at the end of this tour, I think. This tour, with these people, is a one-off. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We'll never repeat this."
The present Gorillaz live show has featured an extensive touring cast which has at various points included soul legend Bobby Womack, singer Lou Reed and Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of The Clash, among a cast of many other musicians from the countries they have played.
The pair are, however, feeling weary after such a huge run of stage shows and admit they are likely to reassess their viewpoint after touring finishes at the end of this year.
Jamie added: ''We'll see how we feel in January. A period of reflection and sobriety - I couldn't keep going at this size and pace."
Damon has also previously told how he's recording an album with the band while on the road, piecing together snippets of music recorded offstage in the various places they have played in, which he has said he hopes to release as soon as possible.Posted on 7 Dec 2010 16:15 to category : Music News
