Green Day cancel 2012 performances
The punk rock trio were due to start a club tour in the US kicking off at Seattle's Paramount Theatre on September 26th, while a full arena run scheduled for January and February 2013 will now be postponed until a later date.
While fans across the Atlantic will be disappointed with the cancellation of these dates, the band have announced that the release of ¡Tré!, the third record in a trilogy, will be brought forward to December 11th 2012 from its original launch date of January 15th 2013.
Front man Billie Joe Armstrong recently entered rehabilitation for substance abuse, following an on-stage meltdown at a televised concert in Las Vegas. Green Day have already had to cancel a number of other television appearances as well as a show at the famous Fillmore in San Francisco.
Bassist Mike Dirnt said: "Obviously the timing for this isn't ideal, but Billie Joe's well-being is our main concern. We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support."
