Guitar is very versatile, says The Edge
The electric guitar has been hailed as a highly versatile instrument by rock legend The Edge.
According to the U2 star, whose hits include Vertigo, Beautiful Day and Sunday Bloody Sunday, many instruments produce a fairly similar sound, regardless of who is playing them.
However, The Edge said this is not true of a guitar, which he believes produces a different sound for each person.
"There's something about the guitar," he commented.
"The range of possibilities is much broader."
He said he was struck by this realisation during the making of his recent movie documentary It Might Get Loud, an exploration of the electric guitar with Jimmy Page and Jack White.
However, he admitted that he does usually try to avoid jamming with other guitar players, as he likes to compose with the instrument rather than mess around with an endless and nondescript chord progression.Posted on 5 Jan 2010 12:03 to category : Instruments News
