Guitar made from whiskey barrels goes up for sale
Posted on 24 Oct 2012 16:07 to category : Music News

The 1608 has been specially crafted and custom built by Vernon and master luthier Gordy Bischoff, who have used original white oak wood from Bushmills Irish Whiskey barrels, the Consequence of Sound reports.
However, the innovation does not stop there as the volume and tone control knobs have been crafted from old bottle caps, while the guitar's humidor has been infused with whiskey giving it a unique smell that a musician would not get from any other guitar, which is sure to influence many aspiring guitarists.
The Bushmills affiliation is part of a marketing campaign between the company and Bon Iver, but the proceeds from the sale of the instrument will go to The Confluence Community Arts Center in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Vernon's hometown.
Guitar lovers have until November 1st to get their hands on The 1608 which is currently listed on eBay with the latest bidding standing at $7,100 (£4,445).
Bon Iver are due to land on UK shores in November with a four-date arena tour taking in Manchester, London, Glasgow and Dublin.
