Guitar pedal-board 'should be well-structured'
Electric guitar players who have built up their pedal-board over time should make sure that it is both versatile and simply-ordered.
This is the advice of Gibson Lifestyle commentator Ted Drozdowski, who explained that his own pedal-board has evolved over the years, containing features such as pitch changers and delay combinations.
He said that putting various effects in order is a matter of both taste and priority, but added there should be some form of easily-understandable structure in place.
"If something on your board goes down on stage, you want to be able to identify the culprit and correct the problem or patch around it ASAP," the expert stated.
"Overly complex boards make that a challenge, as I've learned the hard way."
He said that he puts the tuner in line first, followed by filter pedals and then distortion equipment.
This could lead on to modulation pedals, then delays and reverbs before a tremolo and a volume pedal.
Earlier this month, Guns N' Roses star Ron Thal told the Gibson website that being "overly prepared" is a good skill for guitarists to have.
He advised them to learn all the different musical parts to a song, not just their own.
