Electric guitar players will always be able to learn new things on the instrument, one acclaimed musician has stated.

According to blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa, he is becoming more proficient all the time thanks to his band.

Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times, he said this is because guitar players can never run out of new riffs to learn and playing styles to master.

Bonamassa added that knowing when to play or not play certain notes is another skill that he is constantly developing.

The 33-year-old began playing the electric guitar as a child and eventually established himself as a top blues player, influenced by the likes of Rory Gallagher, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

"I'm just having a blast - it's the sheer joy of playing," Bonamassa commented.

This comes after he told the Lancashire Telegraph that he is "really excited" about working with his new group, which includes the likes of Glenn Hughes from Deep Purple and Jason Bonham on drums.

"To work with people of such quality is great," he stated.
