Guitar skills 'can be improved by a good night's sleep'
People who play the guitar may find they perform better on the musical instrument after having a good night's sleep.
This is the suggestion of a new study carried out by researchers from the Trent University in Ontario, Canada, who published their results in the Sleep journal.
Using the game Guitar Hero III, scientists tested out the coordination abilities of two separate groups one set of people who had been asleep for 12 hours and another who had been awake for the same period.
Those who slept were able to play the right notes 68 per cent of the time, while those who had not managed accuracy levels of 63 per cent, reports the Daily Telegraph.
Dr Kevin Peters, one of the researchers, said: "Consistent with previous studies, these results demonstrate a significant link between sleep and motor learning."Posted on 9 Jun 2010 13:15 to category : Instruments News
