Hank Marvin reminisces about first Fender Stratocaster
The Shadows star told the Tonight website that bandmate Cliff Richard bought him a Fender Stratocaster as a gift back in the late 1950s.
Marvin explained that there had been an embargo on buying guitars from the States from the end of World War II until that time.
"Cliff ordered it straight from the factory," the electric guitar player said.
"He bought me that first wonderful Strat, which I received in the spring of 1959."
Marvin added that the instrument had then been lent to The Shadows' Bruce Welch who has never returned it.
He added the pair now have a pact in which whoever lives longest gets to keep it.
