Hank Marvin's electric guitar playing draws praise
Electric guitar player Hank Marvin has received further praise for his performances on the Cliff Richard and The Shadows reunion tour.
The veteran musician played his trademark red Fender Stratocaster as the legendary band performed three gigs at London's O2 Arena this week.
According to Ben Walsh of the Independent, Hank's electric guitar sounded immaculate and crisp during the shows.
The Shadows were hailed for giving Sir Cliff a respectability that he has not achieved in "aeons" - as the audience appeared to have "nothing but respect" for the 68-year-old singer.
Caroline Sullivan of the Guardian also gave the band a good review, singling out the nine songs they performed without Sir Cliff for particular praise.
"Their playing was dazzling," she commented.
"And certified classics such as Apache sounded cool and vital."
Ms Sullivan added that it was difficult not to love Hank Marvin after the electric guitar player gently teased Sir Cliff and described the band as "silver foxes".Posted on 1 Oct 2009 11:23 to category : Band / Celebrity News
