Hendrix inspires Arctic Monkeys
One of the UK's top bands has revealed that it owes a debt of gratitude to electric guitar legend Jimi Hendrix.
The guitarist famously pioneered the use of feedback in many of his records, as well as adopted unusual techniques such as playing his Fender Stratocaster with his teeth.
Speaking to Clash, Turner commented: "We listened to him loads during this.
"[We] got more into the records than we had before - Electric Ladyland and Axis: Bold of Love" and that."
Turner added that Cream - the supergroup consisting of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker - were another inspiration behind the as-yet untitled record.
He described the vocal harmonies on the band's records as "cool", and also singled out Baker's drumming for particular praise.Posted on 8 Jun 2009 11:58 to category : Band / Celebrity News
