Hofner Violin Basses to be Renamed with Homage to the Beatles
The new names will reflect the era that they were first built, instead of being named after a specific year.
The Vintage ’61 Reissue is now named the 500/1 ‘Cavern’ Violin Bass . This model was the first to be played by Paul McCartney after visiting Hamburg. Also available is the Left Handed ‘Cavern’ Violin Bass .
Renamed the500/1 ‘Liverpool’, the Vintage ’62 reissue is inspired by the bass which was built for McCartney in 1963. Part of the reason for renaming is to clear up this issue with Macca enthusiasts. The Liverpool Violin Bass is also available as a left handed model.
The Vintage ’64 reissue is now named the standard 500/1 Violin Bass model. All construction and fittings on each of the reissue models have remained the same.
