Ian Brown to play at Gary Neville's testimonial
Ian Brown is to play live at the testimonial football match being held in honour of Gary Neville's contribution to Manchester United in March, reported the NME.
The former frontman of The Stone Roses, who is often seen on stage with his favourite music instrument the tambourine, is a huge Manchester United fan.
The music magazine reported that Neville, who was forced to retire from football after a long struggle with numerous injuries earlier this year after 19 years at Old Trafford, had made the announcement on his Twitter page.
He wrote: "Big news! The legend that is Ian Brown is singing the teams out at my testimonial! Wow! Honour for me! This is the one!"
This Is The One is also the title of one of The Stone Roses' tracks that featured on their self-titled debut album, which was released in 1989. It is seen as one of the seminal records of the 'Madchester' music scene that existed during the late 80s and early 90s.
Brown has since had a successful solo career and his latest studio album My Way was released in September 2009.
