Music collectors have the chance to get their hands on an iconic piece of memorabilia as a signed Red Hot Chili Peppers guitar is set to go up for auction.

The Ebony Les Paul Custom axe has been autographed by front man Anthony Keidis along with band members Flea, Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer as well as former drummers Cliff Martinez and Jack Iron, the Daily Express reports.

It was made for when the four-piece was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 and was played at the ceremony.

The guitar has been put up for auction by the Rock & Roll museum in Cleveland, Ohio and is aimed at helping to raise money the education scheme run by the facility.

Officials at Charity Buzz website, where the item is being listed, expect it to generate around £5,000 when it closes on March 12th providing a huge boost for the good cause it is representing.

Red Hot Chili Peppers themselves are currently on a worldwide tour and will be heading to Mexico at the beginning of March before returning to the US for the Coachella festival in April.
