'Inspiration to guitarists' Alvin Lee dies
Lee made his name through an 11-minute solo performance on his Gibson Guitar at the iconic rock festival Woodstock in 1969, where he played I'm Going Home with his band Ten Years After.
Manager Ron Rainey said that the legendary guitarist passed away due to complications following routine surgery.
In total, Lee released more than 20 albums over a 45-year career, with his last release coming in August 2012, in the shape of Still On The Road To Freedom.
Rainey said of his client: "He was a great musician, writer, producer, performer, and a gentleman, truly one of a kind."
Leo Lyons, who played alongside Lee in Ten Years After, called him "the closest thing" he had to a brother, recalling "so many great experiences" shared together.
He said: "He was an inspiration for a generation of guitar players."
