Jamie Cullum Chooses Korg SV-1 Stage Vintage Piano
One of Britain's leading performers has chosen the Korg SV-1 Stage Vintage Piano as his main practice and composition piano.
Jamie Cullum is recognised by many as one of the most energetic and charismatic musicians around, introducing jazz to a broad audience.
Jamie stated that "the SV-1 is my primary practice keyboard...so it's the first thing my tour manager puts in my dressing room in the morning - I walk in and it's there!"
"Another reason for having the SV-1 back stage is that I've been writing a lot while on the road."
"I'll be back in the studio early next year to begin recording the material I'm currently composing."
"I'm using the SV-1 for over three hours a day, so I actually play it more than my stage piano!"
Not only did Jamie love the sound of the SV-1, but also the feel of it and it's portability.
"The key weighting is something Korg have really got right on this one, yet somehow they've managed to do it without making the instrument really heavy."
Jamie has also taken a Korg MicroSampler and WaveDrum as part of his set up alongside the SV-1.
The WaveDrum is the Korg instrument Jamie plays most on stage, but off stage it also plays an important role in his set up.
"I am very fond of getting loops and drum beats going to write over, and quite often, I start with a WaveDrum loop and improvise to a click for five minutes."
Jamie also recently received a MicroSampler - Korg's sampling keyboard - and it looks like it will be a fixture on his new material.
"I'm loving the MicroSampler - it's just ripe with possibilities...it's an incredible little instrument."
"I'm just getting to grips with it and contemplating the possibility of sampling strings from my album and using them for gigs."Posted on 8 Dec 2010 09:22 to category : Band / Celebrity News
