Jane's Addiction recruit Dave Sitek as bassist for new album
TV on the Radio star Dave Sitek has joined Jane's Addiction for a temporary period as the group's new bass guitar player.
Sitek, who has also produced tracks by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Foals in the past, is to be involved in the writing process for the group's new album.
Work on the record is currently taking place in Los Angeles, with a release date pencilled in for the summer.
Jane's Addiction lead singer Perry Farrell said the band are happy to have Sitek on board with them and their work together is looking promising.
"Dave, Steve and I are fully immersed in the process of making modern music," he stated.
"It has been a great experience thus far and the results have so much potential."
Guitarist Dave Navarro backed Farrell's comment, adding that the process of writing material for the new album has been "both inspiring and incredibly freeing".
While there had initially been some confusion over whether Sitek was making a permanent switch away from TV on the Radio, Navarro told his followers on Twitter that this will not be the case.
He explained that the bassist is not a full member of Jane's Addiction.
