Jay Z and Kanye West: A case of reputation preceding themselves

Jay-Z and Kanye West are known for being two of the most outspoken hip-hop stars of their generation, which has fuelled speculation that they have not been getting on in the run up to their tour.

The duo's recent announcement that they are pushing back their debut US tour in support of their new studio album Watch the Throne has added further fuel to the fire that behind the scenes tensions are rising between the two rappers.

Jay-Z and West, who are collectively known as The Throne, were set to kick of their much-anticipated tour in September, but that has now been rescheduled to begin a month later.

In a bid to quash the controversy surrounding the pair, Jay-Z told the New York radio station Hot 97 FM that it was only natural that two self-assured superstars like them would bicker.

He said: "I want to spend a gazillion dollars. They got it backwards, but it's all good. I know that we're doing something right now. Yes, we get on each other's nerves, but that's part of pushing each other. We push each other.

"The people who have a problem with Kanye or myself are the people that are complacent in life. People don't like to be pushed."

Their new album drops on August 8th and will feature Beyonce, Mr Hudson and Franck Ocean.
