Jeff Bridges to release debut album
Jeff Bridges, the Hollywood actor who is the current muse of film directors, is to release his first studio album in August.
Bridges, 61, who has played the acoustic guitar all his life, won an Oscar for best male actor in 2010 for his performance as a down-and-out country music singer-songwriter in the movie Crazy Heart, in which he shows off his skills as a guitar player.
His self-titled album will be produced by the well-respected T-Bone Burnett - who also helped out on the soundtrack for Crazy Heart – and feature guest appearances from Roseanne Cash – daughter of the legendary country bluesman Johnny Cash – and Sam Philips.
Writing on his website, the star said: "Yeah... I’m getting into my music this year. I’m hoping to do some shows with my buddy T-Bone and record an album, put a band together, that sort of thing.”
Bridges has recently been on an incredible run with movie success. Aside from his Oscar-winning performance in Crazy Heart, he has captivated audiences with his reprisal of the cult role of Kevin Flynn in Tron: Legacy, antagonised Tony Stark as the villainous Obadiah Stane in Iron Man and gave a typically brilliant performance as Rooster Cogburn in the Coen brothers' remake of True Grit.
