Jimmy Page: Electric guitar reflects your personality

Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin has hailed the electric guitar as a highly individual instrument.

The same electric guitar can sound completely different in the hands of different guitarists, Jimmy Page believes.

According to the Led Zeppelin legend, the electric guitar is a very tactile instrument that moulds into a player's personality.

Speaking to the Telegraph, he said this is apparent when different people have a go on the same instrument, as each person will display their own individual quirks and traits.

"Even people who have only been playing for a short time - untrained musicians - you can recognise their character in their playing," he commented.

Page added that he regularly plays the electric guitar today, although he does not consider it practising.

Indeed, he said he picks up the instrument in the hope of finding a creative spark and stumbling across a new chord sequence or riff.

Page recently confirmed that he is planning to showcase new music on the road next year.

Following Led Zeppelin's one-off reunion gig in 2007, he had been hopeful of taking the reformation further, but frontman Robert Plant chose to concentrate on his successful collaboration with Alison Krauss instead.
