John Lennon to be remembered at Liverpool festival
Legendary electric guitar player John Lennon is to be remembered in a season of events celebrating his life and music in Liverpool.
The event will run between October 9th 2010, the date that would have marked the 70th birthday of The Beatles star, and December 9th, which is one day after the 30th anniversary of his death.
This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Beatles.
Music, film, arts and poetry events are to be held in the city during the period, bringing thousands of extra visitors to Liverpool.
Liverpool's Lord Mayor, councillor Mike Storey, told BBC News: "The John Lennon Tribute Season will allow us to remember him as a man, celebrate his music and his overall contribution to our city."
The early life of John Lennon was the basis of a recent film, Nowhere Boy, while Liverpool's airport is also named after the electric guitar player.Posted on 25 Mar 2010 13:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News
